We all have a different image that comes to mind when the word ‘tonic’ pops up.
If you look it up in the dictionary something along these lines will be found, a medicinal substance taken to give a feeling of vigor or well-being. Synonyms: stimulant, restorative, refresher, medicine. I know with clients when I mention tonics, tonic water is usually what they think I am talking about. Tonics may or may not be bubbly, and the ones I make have a warm water or spring water at room temperature base.
On my site I have shared tonic recipes before and a few medicinal properties of Chinese herbs that I use in brews. I’ve been asked to share more tonic recipes especially one that may be you are already making something like it at home and wouldn’t know that it would be considered a tonic.
Here is a delicious tonic that is delicious for those brand new to tonics to people who have been doing this for decades already! I tried to keep the recipe rather simple on purpose for those who aren’t starting off with a cabinet full of herbs and spices just yet 😀
Warming Longevity Tonic
Spring Water, however much you want to drink!
Shilajit extract/powder (If you are completely new to this herb, start small (1/16-1/8 teaspoon), and gradually build up as your body adapts to its potency to 1/2 teaspoon or more)
Lemon Juice from 1-2 lemons depending on your preference
1-2 tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar or Coconut Vinegar (depends on your taste buds)
Cayenne powder, according to taste
Cinnamon powder, according to taste
Preferred sweetener, just a tiny tiny bit and it is of course completely optional
Turmeric powder, according to taste
Pinch of Himalayan Salt
Please stir and enjoy! xo
Shilajit translates into “invincible-rock,” it ranges in color from a yellow-ish brown to black the darker the Shilajit the more potent it is. There at least 85 minerals in ionic form found in this substance, this is possible because Shilajit is created from the sun creating heat on rocks, and in exchange the rocks release an oil/sweat that is Shilajit.
There can be a whole book worthy to the health benefits of Shilajit but here is a quick list of the main benefits; healthy immune system, improve bone strength, detoxify tissues and organs, improve libido, increase longevity and vitality.
I am currently using Shilajit from Ultimate Superfoods and am pleased with the product. Another company that I have tried Shilajit from and was pleased was from The Raw Food World.
Thank you all for taking the time to stop by my site. Wishing you all an abundant, happy and delicious New Year. Much love ❤ and raw power 😉
