Last November I shared several posts on Seasonal Foods, the importance of eating seasonal, health benefits, and recipes.

Today I have a few recipes to share, one where I finally use Kohlrabi and another that is my healthier twist on Apple Cider ❤ These are rather simple recipes and for the slaw you can of course use whatever you have in your house instead! This slaw was inspired by a few odd ball produce items I had around.

Fat Free, Oil Free, Extremely Seasonal and Extremely Spicy!
Serves One
Mandoline is helpful or use a chef knife to make matchstick/julienne cut

Slaw
One Small Celeriac, peeled, matchstick cut
One Small Carrot, peeled, I kept these as long shredded like pieces for a mix in texture but keeping it matchstick style is excellent as well
One Medium-Small Watermelon Radish or any local variety you have available, no need to peel, matchstick cut
Half or less of a small Kohlrabi, no need to peel, matchstick cut
1/2 cup of shredded cabbage (I used Napa Cabbage from a CSA pack)
2-inches Daikon Root, no need to peel, matchstick cut

Dressing
Juice from two carrots
Habanero juice, according to your taste buds or just a dash of cayenne/paprika powder
1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar according to your preference
1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon coconut aminos according to your preference (or your preferred soy sauce)
Dash of cumin
I used fresh ginger juice just a quick splash but a pinky nails worth of fresh minced ginger will work too!
Dash of turmeric powder or fresh is even better if you happen to have it

Use your hands and massage this all together! With time the heat from the spicy ingredients will become stronger just a little heads up 😀 My slaw vegetables where all from a local CSA pack so of course what is local produce to you might be completely different for me.

Drop It Like It’s Hott Cider
Serves One
Roughly 14 ounces

This has far less sugar than the traditional heated apple cider and is loaded with anti-inflammatory, warming and rooting ingredients.

4 medium-large carrots (peeled)
2 of your favorite apples, I used Fuji
1 lemon, with have of the peel on unless it is not organic (I do not recommend juicing non-organic lemon peels)
A tiny slither of habanero juiced, or instead a dash of cayenne
Dash of cinnamon
Dash of nutmeg
1/2-inch roughly of ginger, peeled
1/2-inch roughly of turmeric or a dash of turmeric powder

Juice and stir in powdered ingredients. The cinnamon will want to clump up so please stir and or shake often. Cheers!

Thank you all for taking the time to stop by my site and read my jibber jabber. Please feel free to leave a comment if you end up testing out any of these recipes in your kitchen. Wishing you all a beautiful October! Much love ❤ and raw power 😉
