Juicy Juice Ideas <3 Latest Concoctions
7January 12, 2013 by Living Girl Living Foods
Sorry I have been MIA for far too long! I have been having issues with the site, getting the Internet to connect on my iPad and traveling madness. I am currently in L.A, wrapping things up here so I can make my final move back to Rhode Island. I have been going super juice heavy lately without even making a point of juicing more. I’ve also tried out a lot of new concoctions, such as juicing fresh berries instead of using frozen berries for smoothies.
The produce that is available as well as the prices and quality is completely different in California then Rhode Island. It’s far more restrictive on creating new treats and being able to afford what I would really like to buy. Not too much produce is locally sourced in Rhode Island, every year I try to grow my own vegetables and herbs usually the coyotes or other animals end up getting to it. I’ve noticed my produce in California survives longer in the fridge, looks healthier and it is relatively affordable to buy organic.
Eventually I would love to have my own greenhouse <3! But here are a few of the juices I have enjoyed the past few days 😀 I've been trying to figure out exactly why I have been craving just juices. May be the need to cleanse from things going on in life or my body is putting on it's heavy duty armor to protect me from all the stomach bugs and flus going around.
I am going to start off with a juice that I was thinking about making and decided to mention it out loud to my mother. For the most part my juices and food scare her, she says vegetables hurt her stomach But she ended up loving the idea and taste of this juice! The sweet potatoes I used were partially local and may be one sweet potato wasn't. My local Rhode Island sweet potatoes were not sweet at all sadly! So it created this odd dry-like coating in my mouth. Make sure you use deep orange ultra sweet potatoes so you do not end up having the same problem:-)
This juice is rather grounding because of the root veggies 🙂
Get Rooted Autumn Warmth Juice
This is enough juice for three people or one mega thirsty person depending on the quality of your produce.
4 sweet potatoes peeled
1 orange (I used clementines, mandarins or blood oranges would be amazing)
1 pear (your favorite type)
1 large carrot
1/2 inch or however much you can handle of ginger
Optional, Mesquite Powder or a mix on Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Anise & Vanilla
❤
Spicy Berries Juice
1 cup raspberries
2 cups strawberries
1/2 lime, rind off
1/2 bunch dandelion greens
As much cayenne pepper or habanero as you like!
I like this juice a ton because it comes out like a Smoothie. The flavors of sweet, spicy, sour and savory is amazingly filling!
Tomorrow I’ll be posting some more juice recipes :-)! I hope these two give you some different ideas on what to make and help us all stay raw even during this chilly month. Much love ❤ thank you all for stopping by 😀
Jess
Thanks, jessica! where in LA are you? would love to meet and say HI in person, before you disappear forever! I’ve become a FAN!
Hi Nancy! I’m staying in downtown LA, I should be at the Hollywood Farmer’s Market tomorrow morning 🙂 I’d love to meet up if you happen to be going.
I’ll be at cafe Gratitude at 11 a.m. ( Melrose& Larchmont). Any chance you could by there? Also, might be at Whole Foods 3rd & Fairfax on Tues.@ 6 to hear Steve factor. What time are you at the Farmer’s Market and where is it?
I have a 6am flight Tuesday and I don’t think I’d make it to Cafe Gratitude. I’ll be at the Farmer’s Market around 8:30am. The Farmer’s Market in Hollywood is right by the spot where Brother Echo has his truck.
Hay Jess,
I’m gettin dizzy following u back and forth across the country. Love your juice ideas and love your stories of the raw cafe you visit. Wish I could join you. Keep the juice flowing as I will probably steal some of your ideas for the new juice bar we are about to open. Yup you heard right, we’re goin for it. Yahoo. So I’m thinking you’ll have to come north to check out the cafe and new juice bar.
Miss our morning coffee like crazy,
Love Brian
Congrats Brian! I’d love to visit, have a juice or coffee and catch up! Congrats again, so excited for you 😀 whoa! Best wishes. Miss you lots! Love you and again congrats!
