Last Day of Phase 1 (Liquids Only) Ani Phyo’s 15-Day Fat Blast (Now 22 Days!)

May 4, 2012 by Living Girl Living Foods

It’s been an eventful morning for me, all good things though loves! I’ve received more phone calls, text messages, e-mails and hugs than normal. Thank you life for balancing me out again ❤

This morning my sciatic nerve decided to act up. Possibly from all the rain we have gotten here in Rhode Island this week, usually that’s how it works for me. I went to yoga class and worked out most of the kinks but my run was a whole other story. I had to cut it down to two miles instead of three. Later today I will try to finish it up but if the pain becomes terrible again it’s not worth it to me.

Today for breakfast I had a Piña Colada, I’m still in awe at how much I love this drink. Even though it’s not listed as a boost option, I added some ginger to help with my sciatic pain and the planned “Squeaky Cleaner” matcha powder. There are a few options here with protein, nuts or protein powders. I used natural flavored hemp protein by Sun Warrior. In the image below you can see the protein swimming around in all the live enzymes and goodness!

Ani mentions in her book how pineapples are a powerful source of bromelain, a proteolytic enzyme that is used to remove dead tissue from burns & wounds. Pineapple is also a great anti-inflammatory. So YAY muscle health 😀 I love Pina Coladas and getting caught in the rain, 😉 hehe. Also another little fun fact, Piña Colada drinks were created in Puerto Rico, the meaning comes from the phrase “strained pineapple” in spanish thus we have piña, pineapple + colada!

After some experimenting these past few days I’ve come to realize that I prefer my shakes after working out to be extra icy. So I have been using half a cup frozen fruit and half a cup fresh fruit. The appearance is much more attractive and it doesn’t hurt that it makes more of the shake as well.

Today’s yummy snack was a Pear Power Shake. I love the combination of kale, pear and vanilla in this one. There is a lot of fiber in this shake so if you are following the Fat Blast you really do not want to miss out on this one. Plus, this is your major source of greens for the day, greens that are high in detoxing agents & protein to keep you going through out the day.

While cleansing or changing your diet you’ll begin to pay attention to your energy level. May be you see a tend on what time of day you feel tired, when you get hungry or when it’s “coffee time.” Sometimes this comes from negative thoughts, your environment or a lack of passion (dreams, love, to take care of yourself & so on). Here is an article all about reversing your energy levels, the title says for raw vegans but I think this can be incorporated into anyones life.

Something that always helps me is thinking about everything the people I admire have overcome. I usually think about Dr. Ann Wigmore, the struggles she had as a child and how even though she was ill she found the keys to health. Ann found health, strength and knowledge in; detoxing, wheatgrass, weeds, herbs, and living foods. She was a pioneer and arguably the mother of raw food. Dr. Wigmore was coming out with extreme facts and ideas for her time. The things she was exposing to the public could essentially bring down corporate food companies. Ann Wigmore curiously died in Boston on February 16, 1994 of smoke inhalation from a fire at the Ann Wigmore Foundation. It is strongly believed that someone was out to kill Ann and destroy all of her research.

“Let me share my vision with you: I see the world without sickness, sorrow or mental disturbances in which we are living in perfect balance and abundant health and harmony.”
– Dr Ann Wigmore

Hearing myself repeat her story in my head or read books from her institute always feed the fire and passion I have for raw food. For sharing the knowledge and answers I have found. In life there is always an element of fear, it can come at you in a person, in food, emptiness, a color or any form. But the reward you earn after conquering your fear makes any demon look like an ant.

I’m sorry to cut myself off like this but I am worried my post is becoming too long and I may be losing you all 😦 Time to wrap this post up!

Today’s lunch soup was a Spicy Avocado Soup and dinner was a Curry Coconut Soup. Sadly I do not have anything new to say about these ones, I still do not like them :-X

Check-In:

I feel like repeating Phase 1 was a huge success towards detoxing and working on my own personal problems. It was touching to see friends make an extra effort to keep my head up and let me know that they love me. Sometimes it does get lonely not having a friend to talk about detoxing, cleansing, juices and what not. These have become such an important part of my life and schedule that I need to feel comfortable about people who will not mock me.

Wow, just checked my weight now and I’ve lost a total of 8 pounds from following Ani’s Fat Blast. So I lost an addition 3 pounds repeating Phase 1. Last time, when I transitioned to Phase 2 I ended up again 1 pound back. Let’s see what happens this time around.

GIRL TALK :-p

NOW

I haven’t even pooped yet today hahahaha and yeah it’s that time of the month so I don’t feel the difference just yet. However, even with what’s going on with my body because of my period my pants to fit nicer. If you are expecting to get a flat tummy by doing this cleanse, it’s not gonna happen. The only way to get those abs or washboard tummy is working out loves. My skin has almost completely cleared up already, a record while having my period.

Okay,

Welcome back boys!

I notice a huge different in my face it does not look puffy like it did before the Fat Blast. I didn’t even realize my face puffed up like that during my travels :-/

On the Left, Before: (Sorry for the weird photo, this was during my many hours around airports eating way too many nuts & coconut candies)

On the Right, After: Oh Hi Self, there are your cheeks! I tried my best to replicate my expression, and use similar crappy lighting, all my smiling photos automatically look more flattering. So I went with my half-smile weird thing…

“Aspire to Inspire before you Expire,” as the saying goes. I have an eventful Friday night planned, hanging out with my mother and getting some errands done 😉 So an early dinner was a must! Tomorrow I welcome Phase 2 of Ani’s Fat Blast where solid food will be consumed for lunch and snacks. There is also an emphasis on prebiotic and probiotic foods.Thank you all for reading, and taking the time to read my little cleansing journey post. I hope anyone finding themselves with not enough energy find my little section of reversing energy helpful. Please stop by tomorrow to continue this adventure of cleansing, re-energizing, conquering fear, and of course having fun. Much love ❤ and raw power 😉

  1. Great post, Jess! Good for you eating the two soups again, even if you didn’t enjoy them. What would you have substituted out to eat instead of having those specific ones? That’s cool about your weight loss too since you started the fat blast. Do you want to keep off the weight? Looking forward to your next entry =)

    • I think for the coconut curry soup there needs to be something to thicken it up, and sweeten it. Something like coconut yogurt would have be super tasty in there, mmm! I didn’t think and still do not think I need to loss weight or keep the weight off. But I have been feeling better in general since I lost some weight, I’ve seen a huge difference in how my face looks (fantastic/glowing), I’ve been moving around easier and my energy is the best it has been in a long time. So if I keep feeling this good I’m not going to try to loss or gain more. Thanks for your questions, I love that you were curious about what I would change with the soup ❤
