The Dublin Double Double Veggie Wrap Experiment

I found this amazing recipe off of RawFoodRecipes.com after seeing how simple and tasty the recipe sounded. Below is the recipe 😀

Spinach Wraps Recipe from Raw Food Recipes

2 cups baby spinach
1 avocado, peeled and pitted (I recommend dicing it too, anything to help your blender so it doesn’t heat your food by trying so hard to blend it up)
2 zucchini, roughly chopped (No need to peel)
1/2 tsp sea salt
TBSP lemon juice
1/4 water (I used 1/4 cup water, but depending on your blender you may need more. Try 1/4 cup at first and if that doesn’t seem to help just add a tablespoon at a time until your puree is smooth)
1 TBSP psyllium husks
Dehydrate for 4-5 hours; flip over wraps during the last hour to assure they are fully dehydrated. Each wrap is about 1/4 cup of the puree, 1/8 inch thick and try to spread it out as evenly as possible. While waiting for these wraps to dehydrate I ate lunch outside and got a little bit of a burn :X It’s time to find or make sunblock.

I personally made two at this measurement and made one huge wrap that took up one entire tray in the dehydrator. I always fill up my wraps too much so I wanted one Godzilla sized one 😀
Lisa Pitman the lovely chef who came up with this recipe filled her wraps up with:
Avocado mashed with salt
Shredded beets
Baby spinach
Which is why she named them double double veggie wraps (double avocado and spinach).
I filled mine with:
Sprouts
Snap Peas
Julienned Carrots
Julienned Cucumber
Julienned Beets
Julienned Yellow Peppers
Ginger
Garlic
Dulse
Sea Salt
Tahini
Lemon
Woooo huge list haha! I ate this godzilla sized spinach wrap a few hours before going to a yoga workshop. I am still pretty full; I had some watermelon and an apple when I got home. I may force myself to have a chard salad at some point too.
Godzilla Spinach Wrap
I do not usually consume nuts because they bother my stomach but I was hoping sprouted, raw, vegan, gluten free & probiotic nuts would be gentle on my stomach and provide me with some extra energy. I’ve also been feeling like I might be lacking some probiotics, and this seemed like an easy fix for everything AND so far still no tummy ache! 😀
These Probiotic Almonds by Sunbiotics are super addicting and tasty. I love the salty cheesy taste of their Cheesy Almonds, the nutritional yeast is perfect. The almonds do not have a very thick coating of nutritional yeast but the taste is still there. They lovely crunch that is hard to find with raw nuts, and even taste like roasted almonds. I hope to have a review of all of their flavors and lots of photos your way soon!
Green Wraps like this are a fantastic way of getting a “pastry/wheat” fix. They are super easy to whip up, eat, and stuff with lots of lovely veggies. I didn’t really put much thought into what I put inside my wrap besides using vegetables I love. I’m so happy with the colors, taste, texture, and overall appearance of these wraps. It’s amazing how many vitamins, minerals, nutrients and happiness can come from using a variety of colors in a meal. I seriously feel like I ate a rainbow, amazing energy and beauty.
I hope you all are inspired or find this post to be helpful in one way or another. Thank you for reading ❤ Hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend! I'm going mad over here trying to find where my hemp protein went off to 😀
