Day 4 January Juice/Smoothie Cleanse
2January 4, 2012 by Living Girl Living Foods
Jinkies, I feel great today!
I started off my day with a longer shower than normal because I scrubbed myself with a Yerba Prima Tampico Brush. I made sure to really get my feet, stomach, back, and arm pits several times. I feel like these are the areas that have a lot of build up both internally and externally. The reason why I think it is important to use a skin brush, especially while cleansing, is because it removes the top layer of dead skin that films our bodies.
Brushing stimulates the circulation of blood which is crucial to maintaining healthy youthful skin and that healthy “glow” we look for. Skin brushing aids cellulite and the lymphatic system. To receive the best results scrub your body before taking a bath or shower.
I used Sprout Face Cleanser (Vegetable Glycerin Organic Rosewater Organic Tea Tree Oil) and Vitain E oil, this weather as been drying out my skin. This did the trick today though 🙂
Before brushing my teeth and scrubbing my tongue I had a 16 oz. cup of hot water with lemon. Yes that’s right, I scrubbed my tongue. Tongue cleaning promotes great oral health by removing bacteria that causes bad breath and preventing gum diseases by loosening bacteria. The same tartar and gunk that’s on your teeth is on your tongue! Try cleaning your tongue after brushing your teeth and please do not go too far back, you will probably gag. Here’s the tongue cleaner I have and in case you are wondering I have the yellow one 😀
I wake up around 4:30am everyday for work and before I left the house I had already gone to the bathroom three times! So far today I drank 48 oz. of hot lemon with water and almost half a gallon of water.
4 ounces of orange juice
2 ounces of grapefruit juice
And a little over 25 ounces of the concoction I made yesterday with 2 ounces of spinach.
When I got home around 2:30pm I made a banana smoothie with just banana and water.
Just a few minutes ago I noticed I forgot a juice at work 😦 This morning I tried out a recipe from The Big Book of Juicing called “Cucumber Refresher.” It consists of two pears (I wanted to use Bartlett but I had to settle with Bosc) and one cucumber. This juice as four out of five stars for detoxing. It’s loaded with beta-carotene, calcium, vitamin c, magnesium, sulphur, potassium, folic acid and phosphorus. Below is a photo of the juice.
The juice made about 16 ounces and tastes like a sweet cucumber juice. The name really explains it with this one. This would taste great with sparkling water, mint or to make a martini 😉
Shortly I’ll be heading out to yoga class and I’m interested in seeing how my body reacts today. I’m waiting for my Blendtec to arrive today as well, sadly I think I still have a few days until my goodies from Raw Food World arrive.
Hope the New Year is treating you all well. Thanks for reading! xoxo
